Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled Assam’s ambitious road connectivity plan, emphasizing the government’s commitment to bridging infrastructure gaps and fostering connectivity across the State.

With a focus on enhancing accessibility and reducing travel times, CM Himanta outlined numerous ongoing development projects aimed at bolstering road infrastructure in Assam.
Highlighting the significance of initiatives like Assom Mala 1.0, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2021, the CM underscored the transformative impact of projects such as Palasbari Mirza Chandubi and major bridges over rivers like Dikrong and Subansiri. With an investment of Rs 1,859 crore utilized thus far, these efforts have significantly enhanced connectivity in the State.
Furthering the commitment to road development, Dr Himanta discussed the progress of the Assam State Roads Improvement Project-ASRIP, covering 247 km across 8 packages. Notable roads like Dhodor Ali, complemented by bridges over Subansiri, exemplify the State’s dedication to improving secondary road networks, with an investment of ₹380 crore already utilized.
Addressing the diverse connectivity needs of different regions, the Assam State Capital Region Improvement Project-ASCCIP encompasses 312.5 km across 6 road corridors in 11 packages, extending development to areas like Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, BTR, and Barak Valley. The utilization of Rs 534 crore by 2023 underscores the initiative’s success in fostering economic cooperation and connectivity throughout the State.
