Sikkim’s 38-year-old mountaineer Manita Pradhan has achieved a remarkable feat by conquering South America’s highest peak Mt Aconcagua. Rising 6,962 meters above sea level in the Andes mountain range of Argentina, this triumph marks another milestone in Pradhan’s quest to conquer the Seven Summits – the tallest peaks on each of the world’s seven continents.
Pradhan’s successful ascent of Mt Aconcagua adds to her impressive climbing achievements, which includes conquering Mt Everest in 2021, followed by Mt Elbrus and Mt Kilimanjaro in 2022. With four summits under her belt, Pradhan now sets her sights on the remaining three peaks: Mt Denali, Mt Vinson Massif, and Mt Carstensz Pyramid.
Expressing her gratitude, Pradhan acknowledged the support and encouragement she received from Sikkim’s Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Soreng constituency MLA Aditya Golay Tamang.
In a Facebook post, Aditya Goley Tamang appreciated Pradhan’s achievement, accentuating her consistent ability to inspire both her local community and the global mountaineering community.
