Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has made a decision to skip summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a fifth time on January 31. He was summoned for questioning in the Delhi excise policy linked money laundering case.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor did not appear for the last four ED summons, scheduled on January 3, November 2, December 18, and December 21 last year — labelling them “illegal”.
AAP has put forth allegations that the summons were a move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to arrest CM Kejriwal in order to topple the Delhi government.
This comes on a day when the party has decided to hold protests across the national capital over the results of the Chandigarh mayoral elections, which the BJP had won.
“Stolen votes in the maiden Chandigarh Mayor election and now when the people are coming to protest peacefully against this they are being stopped at various places across Delhi,” Arvind Kejriwal remarked, reacting to news of AAP functionaries being detained by the police.
