Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a crucial coalition with the People’s Party of Arunachal Pradesh or PPA for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State.
Taking to X, CM Himanta wrote, “Inspired by the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the president of the People’s Party of Arunachal Pradesh – a constituent of Northeast Democratic Alliance – Kahfa Bengia along with other senior leaders of the party conveyed to me their desire to work closely with our party for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State. We look forward to their support in the developmental journey of Arunachal Pradesh and Northeast.”

The PPA, constituted in September 1977 by Bakin Pertin, Oken Lego and L Wanglat boasts influential leadership within its ranks.
A day before, party sources mentioned, Assam Minister, BJP leader and Arunachal election in-charge Ashok Singhal convened sequences of review meetings with the party’s district in-charges, Lok Sabha constituency in-charges and conveners at the party’s headquarters in Itanagar.
Besides, Singhal exhorted the Arunachal BJP office bearers, morcha heads, core group members, team members and committees to work in close coordination, take up responsibilities, outline up a strategy for numerous election-related programmes. Soon, he will convene separate meetings with each committee.
State unit president Biyuram Wahge and general secretaries Zingnu Namchoom, Tadar Niglar and Nani Lajie participated in the meeting.
