The National Investigation Agency or NIA, in a significant move, busted a sophisticated cross-border smuggling network specializing in arms, ammunition, and explosives and arrested a key accused in Mizoram.
Lalngaihawma, hailing from the Mamit area, was held in Aizwal after the agency received crucial information regarding the operations. He along with his associates was actively involved in the trafficking of arms, ammunition, and explosive materials within the Northeastern States as well as across international borders with various insurgent groups an aim to fuel violent terrorist acts and criminal activities.
The NIA spokesperson asserted further investigations are underway to dismantle the entire network, with a focus on uncovering additional operatives and tracing the flow of illicit arms and explosives.
