Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal faced major setback after Delhi High Court declined to annul the criminal defamation case filed against him for re-tweeting Youtuber Dhruv Rathee’s video on Bharatiya Janata Party-BJP IT Cell.
A trial court order, taking cognisance of serious consequences of Kejriwal’s reposting, had summoned the AAP leader in the case that was backed by the High Court’s Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma.
The court ruled his action carrying defamatory content will attract charges under the Indian Penal Code’s Section 499. However, the court allowed Kejriwal to fight for his action during the stage of trial.
Trouble further escalated for Kejriwal after I Support Narendra Modi Page founder Vikas Sankrityan also filed the defamation case against Kejriwal over the matter.
Dhruv Rathee, in his video, had mentioned that Vikas Sankrityan is part of Bharatiya Janata Party’s IT cell. Additionally, the later was charged of offering Rs 50 lakh as bribe to Mahavir Prasad for taking back allegations of spreading fake news by the IT cell of the ruling party.
Prasad appeared in a public show with Rathee titled – BJP IT Cell Insider Interview. Arvind Kejriwal shared this video on his X account.
