Pop powerhouse Taylor Swift created Grammy history by winning her fourth Album of the Year award for Midnights -– the most ever by any artist. This is Swift’s record-breaking triumph where the 34-year-old surpassed music icons like Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder with the most wins of the top Grammy on February 4.
The list of nominated artists included Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo but Taylor Swift stood on the top. Grammys darling Jon Batiste and top nominee SZA take home the major award.
The honour was an added feather in the cap of Swift. Her monumental Eras Tour became the world’s first billion-dollar tour in the pool of music industry.
Swift, taking her producer Jack Antonoff and fellow nominee Lana Del Rey with her onstage, where she described the moment as wonderful, but was comparable to many moments in her work from “rehearsing with my dancers or my band or to getting ready to leave for Tokyo or to play a show.”
“Personally, the award is the work,” Swift said. “I love it so much and it makes me so happy. It makes me unbelievably blown away that it makes some people happy who voted for this award too.”
“I am grateful for the opportunity to do what I 100 percent love so much! Mind blown!”
Her 10th studio album, Midnights, her 10th studio album, made it to the top of the Billboard charts when it came out in October 2022, and made Swift the first artist to simultaneously grab all 10 spots on the US top songs chart.
Swift came into the gala with six chances at Grammy gold, that covered the coveted awards for best song, celebrating the songwriting as well as the best record. She scored one other prize, that was for Best Pop Vocal Album.
While accepting the award, she further made her fans’ day by announcing that she would release a new studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19. Her previous three Album of the Year wins were for Fearless, 1989 and Folklore.
With her new work, Swift has found resounding success. Additionally, she vows to re-record her first six albums in order to control their rights.
