Report reveals that Prince Harry will be returning to the United Kingdom soon after Buckingham Palace announced the recent cancer diagnosis of King Charles on February 6. The statement further informed that the immediate treatment has started, causing a delay in the King’s public duties, as stated by the palace.
Prince Harry, the 39-year-old member of the royal family, is heading to London on February 6, as per the official spokesman for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. As per the claims of a UK media report, the word of his diagnosis spread while he also had a conversation with King Charles.
In the announcement that took place on February 6, Buckingham Palace did not provide specific details with respect to Charles’s illness. Additionally, there are reports that King Charles has himself informed each of his sons about his health. He also made a call to his siblings which are Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, as well as his kids, Prince William and Prince Harry, after his medical diagnosis.
Meghan Markle will not go to see King Charles
The Page Six claims that Meghan Markle, Harry’s wife, along with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will not accompany him on his journey back to London. However, an official confirmation for the same is still awaited.
There are no definite updates with respect to Prince William and Kate Middleton. Kate, the Princess of Wales, is currently recovering from her recent abdominal surgery, which resulted in her hospitalisation for close to two weeks.
King Charles diagnosed with cancer
The diagnosis came right after King Charles’ recent three-night hospital stay for a corrective procedure related to an enlarged prostate. “The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, has indicated a separate issue of concern. Subsequent diagnostic tests have recognised a form of cancer,” read the official statement from Buckingham Palace on February 6.
“His Majesty has started from today a schedule of regular treatments, during which time the doctors have asked him to postpone public-facing duties,” the palace’s statement continued. “Over the course of this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business as well as official paperwork as usual,” it added.
Wishes from world leaders
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished King Charles III of Britain a swift recovery and good health on February 6 after Buckingham Palace’s announcement.
Modi, took to X and wrote, “I join the people of Bharat in wishing speedy recovery and good health to His Majesty King Charles III.”
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also wrote on X, “Wishing His Majesty a full and speedy recovery. There is no doubt that he’ll be back to his full strength in no time and I am sure the whole country will be wishing him well.”
“The whole country will be rooting for the King today,“ said Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Taking to X, US President Joe Biden said, “Navigating a cancer diagnosis, treatment and survivorship takes a lot of hope and absolute courage. Jill and I stand with the people of the United Kingdom in praying that His Majesty experiences a swift and complete recovery.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in conversation with the media, said, “I, like Canadians, across the country as well as people around the world, am thinking of His Majesty King Charles III as he gets under treatment for cancer. We send him our very best wishes – and hope for a fast and full recovery.”
