Displaying its commitments towards wider wildlife conservation, Arunachal Pradesh’s Centre for Bear Rehabilitation and Conservation or CBRC located at Pakke-Kessang district’s Pakke Tiger Reserve has successfully rehabilitated 60 Asiatic bear cubs since its foundation in 2001.
The CBRC, Bharat’s only rehabilitation facility, is a joint venture of the Wildlife Trust of India and State’s Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Department. Four among 60 were rehabilitated from 2022 to 2023, said CBRC head Panjit Basumatary.
The CBRC, as a part of its rescue programme of other wildlife species, has recorded 23 rescue cases of numerous animals in 2023. However, due to acclimatization issues, a fourth cub lost its life during rehabilitation, mentioned Basumatary.
