Tourists visiting world-famous Kaziranga National Park or KNP in Assam will now experience multitude of joy along with enjoying the sight of one-horned rhinos and other flora and fauna as it will offer a riveting experience of the State’s rich tea culture.
The tourists under the initiative can now saunter amidst glistening and refreshing tea and pepper gardens, witness the multiple processes through which organically grown green tea passes, from preparation to packaging, at the tea factories and conclude the tour by savouring the most popular beverage amid the green foliage.
KNP Director Sonali Ghosh stated the aim of this new idea is “to provide an immersive experience in the art of tea cultivation and production” where “the dew-kissed tea leaves and smell of the earth along with the exquisiteness of Kaziranga will exhilarate the visitors.
The renewed approach along with multiple other initiatives will surely increase the already massive number of tourists visiting the KNP. Data reveal almost 1.08 lakh domestic and foreign tourists have toured the park, following revenue generation of about Rs 4.58 crore.
In the current tourism season of 2023-24, at least 17,662 people visited the park in the opening month of October, over 40,000 tourists in November, as many as 65,000 people in December and 52,000 tourists in January 2024. Tourists flow surged from 2.55 lakh in 2022 to 3.26 lakh in 2023. More than 1.79 lakh tourists have already visited the national park and tiger reserve since last October.
The KNP boast of being the must-visit destination for tourists in the Northeastern region as it offers multitude of adventure and sports activities like cycling at Kohora, Panpur Jeep Safari and Boat Safari at Biswanath Wildlife Division. Other than enjoying these activities, tourists can experience local culture and heritage.
