In a notable move to foster entrepreneurial spirit among its residents, the Meghalaya Government has earmarked a substantial sum of Rs 300 crore to support over 20,000 entrepreneurs across diverse sectors over the next 3 to 4 years.
During the PRIME MeghaPreneur Expo 2024, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma reiterated the government’s dedication to nurturing entrepreneurship. He highlighted initiatives like the CM ELEVATE Program, aimed at empowering a significant number of entrepreneurs – a pioneering endeavour for the State.
Besides, CM Sangma announced the allocation of approximately Rs 22.67 crore to bolster 71 entrepreneurs across numerous sectors, displaying the government’s strong support for emerging ventures.
Underlining the importance of entrepreneurship, CM Sangma underscored its pivotal role in driving economic progress, both locally and nationally. He listed about the government’s strategic focus on fostering entrepreneurship as the primary engine of economic growth and job creation within the State. Initiatives like CM ELEVATE provide substantial support, including a 75 per cent subsidy and comprehensive assistance to nurture business growth.
The PRIME MeghaPreneur Expo 2024, held over three days at the SRGT Polo Ground, concluded with celebrations of entrepreneurial spirit in Meghalaya recently. The event featured an awards ceremony, honouring top performers and recognising the achievements of the ShillongPRIME team.
Moreover, the expo provided a platform for insightful discussions and presentations by industry experts, enriching the entrepreneurial landscape in Meghalaya. Academic institutions such as St Anthony’s College, Shillong, and Shillong College showcased their entrepreneurial endeavours, sharing their experiences with programs like the Entrepreneurship Development Program.
