Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the historic BAPS Hindu Mandir, the first-ever traditional Hindu stone temple in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), during his two-day official visit to the nation starting February 14. Alongside the temple inauguration, PM Modi will address the Indian community at an event in Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City.
The inauguration follows PM Modi’s acceptance of an invitation extended by Swami Ishwarcharandas and Swami Brahmaviharidas, along with the board of directors of the BAPS Hindu Mandir.

Spread over 27 acres in the Abu Mureikhah district of Abu Dhabi, the BAPS Hindu Mandir stands as a magnificent symbol of traditional Hindu architecture.
Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra anticipates a significant turnout of devotees, estimating between 2,000 to 5,000 visitors on the inaugural day.
Construction of the temple commenced in December 2019, following the laying of the foundation stone in April of the same year.
The UAE Government, in a gesture of tolerance and support, allocated 13.5 acres of land for the temple’s construction in 2015, with an additional 13.5 acres gifted in January 2019.
PM Modi’s visit to Abu Dhabi in 2018 marked the laying of the temple’s foundation.
The project, estimated to cost 400 million United Arab Emirates dirhams, is under the guidance of Brahmaviharidas Swami and Mahant Swami Maharaj.
The inauguration ceremony will be celebrated as the ‘Festival of Harmony,’ featuring uplifting programs and community events aimed at strengthening faith and promoting harmony.
PM Modi’s visit to the UAE marks his seventh trip to the country since 2015, underscoring the growing bilateral ties and cultural exchanges between Bharat and the UAE.
