Aligning with the Manipur Government’s effort to combat the drug epidemic, the Wung Tangkhul Region or WTR Ukhrul and the Katho Katamnao Long jointly launched a mission to eradicate poppy cultivation in Laho Village.
Pooling resources from four units – Roudei Katamnao Long, Lungshang CT Katamnao Long, Ramva Katamnao Long, and Hatha Katamnao Long – the operation aims to uproot the source of illegal substances plaguing the region.

This initiative follows a recent success where a combined team of Manipur Police, the 6th Manipur Rifles, and the Forest Department eradicated approximately 50 acres of illicit poppy plantations near the Indo-Myanmar border in the Khamasom hill range.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh hailed the efforts by Manipur Police’s Ukhrul team, 6th MR, and Forest Department on social media.
CM Biren further wrote, “The eradication of approximately 50 acres of poppy-cultivated areas is a significant step in our fight against drug trafficking and illegal narcotics production. This collaborative effort showcases our determination to uphold law and order and protect our communities from the scourge of drug abuse. Let us continue to work together to build a safer and drug-free society for our future generations.”
