Reliance Industries Limited-RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani is set to introduce Bharat’s indigenous answer to ChatGPT, set to debut in March under the moniker ‘Hanooman’.
A collaborative effort supported by Reliance Industries and Bharat’s premier engineering institutions will witness the launching of this AI model, as reported recently.
Dubbed the BharatGPT group, backed by Reliance Industries and eight distinguished universities, showcased the Hanooman model at a tech conference held in Mumbai earlier this week.
During the demonstration, attendees witnessed the versatility of the model as a motorcycle mechanic from South India interacted with it in Tamil, a banker conversed in Hindi, and a developer from Hyderabad utilised it for coding purposes.
The success of Hanooman could represent a significant leap forward for Bharat in the global race to pioneer revolutionary AI technology.
The BharatGPT consortium aims to deploy the model across 11 local languages, focusing primarily on healthcare, government services, finance, and education sectors.
Developed through collaborative efforts among Indian Institute of Technology-IIT campuses, particularly IIT Bombay, and with support from Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited and the Indian Government, Hanooman also boasts speech-to-text capabilities for enhanced user convenience, as highlighted by Ganesh Ramakrishnan from IIT Bombay’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Additionally, Reliance Jio is slated to create customised models tailored for specific applications, further enhancing the utility of Hanooman.
This initiative aligns with Reliance Industries’ broader efforts, including the development of Jio Brain, an AI platform poised to leverage the vast network of approximately 450 million subscribers.
Mukesh Ambani had previously hinted at the launch of advanced AI systems akin to OpenAI’s ChatGPT during the 46th Annual General Meeting or AGM of Reliance Industries Limited, reaffirming the conglomerate’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology for the benefit of Bharat’s populace.
