The Narendra Modi Government has sanctioned Rs 6,728.33 crore for constructing eight stretches covering 305 km on NH-913 (Frontier Highway) in Arunachal Pradesh, said Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. The investment targets to strengthen connectivity to border areas and promote socio-economic progress, he added.
On completion, the Frontier Highway will encourage reverse habitation towards Arunachal Pradesh’s border regions and mitigate migration.
Apart from this, the Frontier Highway stretches will facilitate the State’s development of multiple hydropower projects by setting up pivotal road infrastructure connecting significant river basins.
This predominantly green-field road will link sparsely populated upper Arunachal areas, ideal for tourism, projecting increased traffic due to burgeoning tourism in the future, Gadkari mentioned.
