Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, in a bid to bolster sports infrastructure across the State, recently inaugurated the foundation laying ceremony for a Synthetic Artificial Turf worth ₹10.93 crore at Umbuda in Ribhoi District. Accompanied by Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri, Sangma highlighted the government’s commitment to nurturing athletic talent by investing in modern sports facilities.
In a statement, CM Sangma expressed the government’s dedication to creating a conducive environment for sports development. He wrote on X post, “As of now we are implementing project worth ₹ 700 crore and additional funds are being sanctioned for next financial year to further boost creation of infrastructure.”
Furthermore, he revealed plans for additional funds in the next financial year, aimed at accelerating the pace of infrastructure creation. “This year we have proposed over ₹2,800 crore in youth budget and will make investment in sector like education, music, culture and entrepreneurship that would unleash and optimise in channelising the positive energy of our youth,” stated CM Sangma.
