Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a poignant meeting with a group of women from Sandeshkhali, where they shared their harrowing experiences.
Sources within the Bharatiya Janata Party-BJP revealed that the women conveyed their ordeal to the PM, who listened patiently, embodying a fatherly figure. The women were reportedly deeply moved by PM Modi’s empathy towards their suffering.
The women “put forward their ordeal and PM heard them patiently like a father figure… The victims were very emotional with the fact that PM Modi understood their pain”, they added. BJP State general secretary Agnimitra Paul confirmed the same to the media.
The women, residing in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali area in North 24 Parganas district, have come forward with allegations of sexual harassment against Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sheikh Shahjahan and others.
The PM remarked the “storm of Sandeshkhali” will spread across West Bengal and woman power will play a significant role in decimating the State’s ruling TMC. He said whatever happened with women in Sandeshkhali “is a matter of shame”.
