In a significant development for Sikkim, the Tourism and Civil Aviation department organised a Helicopter Pravesh Puja to mark the inaugural landing and commencement of commercial operations at Burtuk Helipad.
During the event, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang officially launched a Twin Engine MI172 Helicopter boasting 26 seats.
The Mi-172 helicopter, renowned for its versatility and robust design, is a medium-lift twin-engine aircraft manufactured in Russia. Specifically tailored for the challenging terrain of Bharat, this helicopter can comfortably accommodate up to 26 passengers and is well-suited for high-altitude operations.
Distinguished guests, including Chief Justice Biswanath Sommadder, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister BS Panth, and other notable figures from various sectors participated in this noteworthy event for Sikkim’s aviation landscape.
With its capacity to reach elevations unreachable by other helicopters, the MI172 promises to enhance accessibility and connectivity across the region, offering passengers a unique and exhilarating aerial experience.
