Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a significant announcement today, coinciding with International Women’s Day, declaring a substantial reduction in the prices of domestic gas cylinders. The PM revealed the cost of domestic gas cylinders would be cut by ₹100, a move aimed at mitigating the financial strain on numerous households across the nation.
Highlighting the significance of this decision, PM Modi outlined its direct impact on the women of Bharat. “Today, on Women’s Day, our government has decided to reduce LPG cylinder prices by Rs 100. This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti,” he affirmed on X.
Furthermore, PM Modi underscored the broader implications of making cooking gas more accessible, highlighting its contribution to both family welfare and environmental health. “By making cooking gas more affordable, we aim to support the well-being of families and ensure a healthier environment. This is in line with our commitment to empowering women and ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ for them,” he added.
In tandem with this announcement, the Central Government extended the subsidy of ₹300 per LPG cylinder to economically disadvantaged women under the Ujjwala Yojana for the upcoming fiscal year, starting April 1. This extension follows a previous hike in subsidy from ₹200 to ₹300 per cylinder for the current fiscal year, demonstrating the government’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable segments of society.
PM Modi took to social media platform X to extend his greetings on International Women’s Day, applauding the strength, courage, and resilience of Bharat’s women. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empowering women across various domains, including education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and technology.
However, the government’s decision faced criticism from Opposition parties, with some terming it as mere election rhetoric. Despite the criticism, PM Modi’s announcement signifies a concerted effort towards addressing economic concerns and promoting gender equality.
