Strengthening the BJP in Meghalaya, former MLA and senior TMC leader Winnerson D Sangma joined the party on Friday. The senior leader said he intends to serve the people through a “better platform”.
D Sangma, who represented the Salmanpara seat for 10 years, from 2013 to 2023, rued he “could not make it in the last Assembly elections”. Despite that, the leader remained in active politics and further wants “to serve the people with commitment and dedication”.
Appreciating the Safron Party, D Sangma stated, “I understood that BJP is a very strong platform in the State and at the national level.” Further talking about West Bengal, he stated that “in the prevailing political environment in the State, I find that the BJP is growing and people have started to accept it.”
BJP Meghalaya president Rikman G Momin welcomed Winnerson to the party in presence of BJP MLAs AL Hek and Sanbor Shullai along with other senior leaders of the party.
D Sangma after joining the party asserted, “How many will come, just wait and watch.” His views were echoed by Meghalaya Minister Hek, who claimed many TMC leaders, including MLAs, will join the BJP in near future.
Shullai said the BJP was ready to give “a red carpet welcome” to Opposition and TMC leader Mukul Sangma.
