Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a majestic 125-foot bronze statue honoring the legendary Ahom general, Lachit Borphukan, in Jorhat, Assam, today. The impressive ‘Statue of Valour’ is a part of the Lachit Barphukan Maidam Development Project located at Hollongapar near Teok.
Arriving in Jorhat from Arunachal Pradesh via helicopter, PM Modi donned traditional attire and headgear for the occasion. He took part in an Ahom ritual as part of the unveiling ceremony, alongside Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
