In a remarkable achievement, Arunachal Pradesh’s Ruba Juju etched his name in the Indian sporting history by clinching a bronze medal at the prestigious Youth Boxing World Cup Adriatic Pearl.
Juju, representing Bharat, achieved the remarkable feat at the tournament held in Budva, Montenegro, from March 3 to 11, making him the first Arunachalee boxer to secure international acclaim.
The Youth Boxing World Cup Adriatic Pearl is renowned as one of the premier platforms for young boxing talent, drawing participants from across the globe to showcase their skills and determination.
Bharat’s stellar performance in the event, with a total haul of five gold, nine silver, and 12 bronze medals, displayed the nation’s prowess in youth boxing.
Accompanying the Indian contingent as a coach was SAI NCoE boxing coach L Radia Devi, whose guidance and expertise contributed to the team’s success on the international stage.
Simultaneously, Arunachal Pradesh’s male and female boxing prodigies shone brightly at the Youth World Boxing Cup, 33 Adriatic Pearl, securing an impressive tally of 15 medals (Gold 4, Silver 4, Bronze 7).
The 24-member Arunachal Pradesh team, comprising athletes from the National Centre of Excellence or NCoE of the Sports Authority of India-SAI, demonstrated exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament.
The medal winners from Arunachal Pradesh, across various weight categories, received accolades from SAI employees.
Congratulating Ruba Juju and expressing delight, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu hailed the feat as “historic” on a social media post and further wrote, “Your achievement not only makes us proud but will also inspire the youth of our State. Keep shining!”
