BRS leader K Kavitha found herself at the centre of a dramatic arrest last evening, as the Enforcement Directorate or ED apprehended her from her Hyderabad residence in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. Following her arrest, she was transported to Delhi for further questioning at the agency’s headquarters.
The ED produced her before Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court this morning and sought her remand for custodial interrogation. Security around the ED headquarters has been heightened with prohibitory orders put in place. First, Kavitha underwent medical examinations before being escorted to the ED’s office.
The former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter faced the ED’s plea for her remand, requesting custodial interrogation.
Reacting to his sister’s arrest, former Telangana minister KT Rama Rao condemned the action and stressed upon the need for the ED to justify its actions.
The Supreme Court had granted Kavitha immunity from interrogation until Wednesday, with the next hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
