Minister Pijush Hazarika expressed confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects while launching a scathing attack against Congress. Speaking at a media briefing in Sivasagar, Hazarika reiterated his belief in Tapan Gogoi’s forthcoming victory by a significant margin of 2.5 lakh votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing the perceived discord within the Congress, Hazarika highlighted internal rifts and a leadership vacuum as factors undermining the Opposition’s cohesion. He attributed mass defections to the BJP to the Congress’s purported lack of ideology and competent leadership.
In a strongly worded statement, Hazarika accused Akhil Gogoi of orchestrating a political conspiracy against Gaurav Gogoi and Lurin Jyoti Gogoi in Jorhat and Dibrugarh respectively. Hazarika confidently predicted the defeat of both individuals, citing sparse attendance at Gaurav Gogoi’s campaign rallies compared to the overwhelming turnout at BJP events.
Regarding Gaurav Gogoi’s candidacy in Jorhat, Hazarika insinuated that Rahul Gandhi orchestrated the move, contrary to Gaurav Gogoi’s purported desire to contest from Kaliabor.
Hazarika said, “Akhil Gogoi hatched a conspiracy to politically murder Gaurav Gogoi and Lurin Jyoti Gogoi in Jorhat and Dibrugarh respectively. Both will be defeated. It is eveident from the presence of people wherever Gaurav Gogoi went for campaigning. Only 80 to 90 people attended his meeting. On the contrary more than 2,000 people attended public meeting conducted by the BJP.
Hazarika welcomed over 6,000 individuals into the BJP fold, including notable leaders from numerous political backgrounds, in a joining ceremony in Jorhat on Sunday. Former Congress leader Rana Goswami also made the switch to BJP, accompanied by over 2,000 Congress workers.
Hazarika highlighted BJP’s inclusive approach, attention to both newly inducted members and longstanding leaders. He reiterated BJP’s commitment to serving the nation as its foremost priority.
Downplaying the significance of the upcoming elections for the BJP, Hazarika underscored the party’s focus on national service over electoral victories. Citing media reports of BJP’s anticipated landslide victory, Hazarika portrayed the Congress as bereft of clear ideology and leadership, asserting its waning political influence.
