Manipur’s exceptional performance in wushu, archery, pencak silat, and sepaktakraw on the third day of the North East Games 2024 in Nagaland took them to the top of the medal tally, dethroning hosts Nagaland.
Across multiple disciplines, Manipur athletes secured a remarkable 20 gold, eight silver, and eight bronze medals on Wednesday.
In wushu, Manipur athletes clinched six gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, dominating the competition at Sovima in Chumoukedima. Notable victories included Arnold, Th Malemngan-ba, and L Boyton Singh in the men’s finals, while K Ichal Devi, L Kalpana Chanu, and B Tamphasana secured gold in the women’s summit clashes.
In archery, Manipur excelled with four gold, three silver, and three bronze medals at NAP ground in Chumoukedima. M Bikram Singh, Ksh Malemsana Devi, L Rojina Devi, and T Sen Meitei contributed to Manipur’s gold medal haul.
Additionally, Manipur added three gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in pencak silat, with victories from P Victor, S Pari Singh, and S Sophia.
In sepaktakraw, Manipur secured four gold medals, further strengthening their position in the medal tally.
Moreover, Manipur’s boxing contingent guaranteed at least 15 bronze medals, with many boxers advancing to the semifinals in both men’s and women’s competitions.
Overall, Manipur’s outstanding performance on Day 3 showcased their dominance across multiple sports, positioning them as strong contenders in the North East Games 2024.
