National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Ampareen Lyngdoh has officially submitted her nomination for the Shillong Lok Sabha constituency. The announcement was made by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on his social media platform X.
CM Sangma stated, “This election is crucial for the National People’s Party (NPP), and as Meghalayans, we must showcase our strength and respect for our women.”
He further added, “Together, we will demonstrate to the nation that Meghalaya and its people have faith in the potential of our women, who can lead us and advocate for the concerns of the State in the Lok Sabha. Wishing her the best!”
The Meghalaya CM urged fellow Meghalayans to support her campaign for the Parliamentary seat to demonstrate respect for women and gender equality in politics. The NPP’s selection of Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh’s candidacy aims to represent people from various political ideologies.
She is committed to addressing the challenges facing Meghalaya throughout her life and working towards the betterment and development of the state. As she embarks on her election campaign to become an MP, she is ready to continue her efforts to create a more peaceful and progressive Meghalaya.
The party expressed confidence that she would make history by securing the seat, which has been held by the Congress for many decades. Lyndoh was competing against Vincent H Pala, a three-time MP and the state Congress president, for that seat.
“I have traversed through 36 constituencies, covering hundreds of kilometres in about 3 and half months. Yesterday, I reached the final segments of my constituency. I feel content that I am now well-acquainted with what needs to be done. I will strive to serve to the best of my abilities,” she remarked.
“As a party, we have a specific blueprint that aims to propel Meghalaya forward,” she added.
