In a shocking development, Tauseef Ali Farooqui, a final year Biotechnology student at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati), has reportedly joined the terrorist group ISIS. The news of his disappearance coincides with the appearance of an open letter titled ‘An Open Letter’ on his LinkedIn profile.
The letter, purportedly written by Farooqui, outlines his extremist beliefs and his decision to sever ties with Indian institutions and society, which he deems un-Islamic. He declares his intention to undertake a ‘Hijrat’ (migration) to an ISIS-controlled region and expresses his readiness to fight for the group. Furthermore, the letter details his planned travel route, starting from Pan Bazaar in Guwahati.
In the letter, Farooqui professes his unwavering faith in Allah, expresses disillusionment with secularism, and severs ties with ‘Kafirs’ (non-believers), urging others to join him in ‘Hijrat’. He selectively interprets Quranic verses to justify his actions and calls for non-believers to convert to Islam.
