A significant political development has emerged in Tripura as a three-member coordination committee, comprising leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tipra Motha, and Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), has been established for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the State.
Scheduled for April 19 and April 26, the elections will cover Tripura West Lok Sabha constituency, Tripura East Lok Sabha seat, and a by-election for the Ramanagar Assembly seat.
The committee, composed of BJP State president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya, and IPFT president Prem Kumar Reang, was confirmed by senior Tipra Motha leader and Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma.
Debbarma mentioned the decision to form the tripartite committee was reached during the inaugural coordination committee meeting of BJP, Tipra Motha, and IPFT, held on Monday. This committee will oversee all aspects of the election process.
“To ensure seamless coordination among our allies, senior leaders from BJP, Tipra Motha, and IPFT convened to strategise and outline the electoral roadmap for the two Lok Sabha seats and the by-election in Ramanagar Assembly constituency,” stated the BJP State president.
The meeting, attended by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, State BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya, and IPFT president Prem Kumar Reang, stressed upon the collaborative approach of the BJP-led alliance, announcing joint campaigns across the State.
Nomination papers for BJP’s candidates Biplab Kumar Deb (Tripura West Lok Sabha constituency) and Dipak Majumder (Ramanagar Assembly seat) are set to be submitted on April 27, while the BJP-supported candidate for Tripura East Lok Sabha seat, Kriti Singh Debbarma, will submit her papers on April 28.
“A padayatra will be conducted in Agartala on April 27 to mark the submission of nomination papers, with the participation of senior leaders from all three parties,” added Bhattacharjee.
Additionally, a separate rally is planned at Ambassa, the district headquarters of Dhalai district, to commemorate the submission of nomination papers by the BJP-supported candidate for Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency, Kriti Singh Debbarma, on April 28.
