The Uttar Pradesh Police Anti-Terrorism Squad or ATS, in a crucial move, detained four individuals of Myanmar origin, including three women, for illegally entering Bharat. Identified as Amir Hamza (21), Meena Jahan (19), Sakura Begaum (22), and Onara Begum (19), the detainees were intercepted aboard a train bound for New Delhi from Assam.
ATS officials halted their journey upon the train’s entry into Uttar Pradesh on March 27, subsequently taking them to ATS headquarters in Lucknow for further interrogation and eventual arrest.
As per a statement issued by the ATS, the apprehended Rohingyas confessed to their Myanmar nationality and admitted to unlawfully entering Bharat with the intent to settle permanently in Bharat. Further probe revealed the possession of fake Indian documents in their possession.
The ATS has pressed charges against the detainees under several Sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 420 (cheating), 467 (Forgery of documents), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document).
