Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) celebrated a groundbreaking moment as it welcomed the birth of its first baby conceived through IVF technology.
Confirming the news, GMCH Principal Dr Achyut Chandra Baishya announced the historic achievement. He revealed that the hospital had initiated an infertility clinic in 2022, paving the way for advancements in reproductive medicine. On March 27, the hospital witnessed the delivery of a healthy female baby conceived through IVF, weighing 2.6 kg. Dr Baishya reassured that both the mother and baby were in stable condition following the birth.
The hospital authorities disclosed that IVF treatments are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays each week, marking a significant step forward in providing accessible reproductive healthcare services to the community.
