In a dignified ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu bestowed the prestigious Bharat Ratna upon former Prime Ministers PV Narasimha Rao and Chaudhary Charan Singh, eminent agronomist MS Swaminathan, and two-time former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, posthumously on Saturday.
The event, attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other dignitaries, marked a momentous occasion in recognising the exceptional contributions of these individuals to the nation.
Among the recipients, LK Advani, a stalwart of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will receive the Bharat Ratna award separately due to his ailing health condition. President Murmu will personally visit Advani’s residence to confer him with this prestigious honour on Sunday.
