RK Somendro, a renowned Manipuri actor popularly known as Kaiku, is set to contest the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha seat as an Independent candidate following the rejection of his nomination as a Manipur People’s Party or MPP candidate due to discrepancies found during scrutiny.
He faced rejection over irregularities detected in the documents submitted by the MPP. Nonetheless, election authorities have given the green light for Somendro to run as an Independent candidate.
Despite this setback, Somendro remains steadfast in his commitment to serving Manipur and has pledged to persevere with his electoral campaign.
Expressing his unwavering dedication to the welfare of Manipur, Somendro asserted, “I will not retreat; I will contest the election for the greater good of Manipur.”
While affirming his loyalty to the Manipur People’s Party, he reiterated his association with the oldest and sole regional party deeply rooted in Manipur. “Although I will run as an Independent candidate, I will continue to collaborate with the MPP,” he affirmed.
