The Assam Government, under the Department of School Education, has officially acknowledged Mising, Rabha, Karbi, Tiwa, Dimasa, and Deuri as mediums of instruction (MoI) at the foundational stage in schools across the State.
This decision aims to enhance learning outcomes for students belonging to these linguistic communities. Following the foundational stage, instruction will transition to a regional language. The directive is effective immediately.
According to the official order released by the Department of School Education, “In order to facilitate enhanced learning for students from the Mising, Rabha, Karbi, Tiwa, Dimasa, and Deuri linguistic communities, the Assam Government, through the Department of School Education, hereby recognises Mising, Rabha, Karbi, Tiwa, Dimasa, and Deuri as Mediums of Instruction (MoI) in the Foundational Stage. Subsequently, these languages, introduced as Mediums of Instruction, will transition to a Regional language. This directive will be implemented with immediate effect.”
