Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has pointed out Congress leaders, who vocally criticise the BJP, often end up joining the ruling party. The CM’s remarks, casting doubt on the credibility of Congress leaders, imply that their actions speak louder than their words.
“Don’t trust the words of Congress leaders, who vehemently oppose the BJP on television. History has shown that many of them eventually align with the BJP. It’s worth examining the mobile phones of Congress leaders to ascertain their connections with the BJP,” remarked CM Himanta, highlighting the frequent political shifts observed in the Indian politics.
The BJP had won nine out of 14 seats in Assam in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and the CM indicated that the Congress has made the contest uncomplicated for his party this time as well. “This time, the Congress in Assam has given candidates according to our choice,” said CM Himanta.
The Assam CM, speaking at an election rally in Karbi Anglong later in the day, stated the central focus of the upcoming elections is “the re-election of Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.
Assam will vote in the Lok Sabha in three phases – April 19, April 26 and May 7. The results will be declared on June 4.
