To invigorate temple traditions across Bharat, Sangeet Natak Akademi, as part of its Kala Pravah series, has begun hosting – Shakti: A Festival of Music and Dance – during the auspicious Navaratri on April 9. In homage to the nine divine goddesses revered during Navaratri, the festival titled Shakti will be held at seven prominent Shaktipeeths from April 9 to April 17, across various regions of the nation.
The inauguration of the Shakti festival commenced at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati and will traverse through esteemed sites such as the Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur, Maharashtra; Jwalamukhi Temple in Kangada, Himachal Pradesh; Tripura Sundari in Udaipur, Tripura; Ambaji Temple in Banaskantha, Gujarat; Jai Durga Shaktipeeth in Deoghar, Jharkhand; culminating on April 17, at the Shaktipeeth Maa Harsidhi Temple in Jaisinghpur, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
Sangeet Natak Akademi, as the national academy of performing arts operating under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has been steadfast in its mission to conserve, explore, promote, and revive the diverse performing art forms of the country. These endeavours encompass music, dance, drama, folk and tribal arts, and various allied art forms, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Bharat.
