In a fiery address targeting the Assam Jatiya Parishad-AJP, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma escalated his criticism of the Opposition regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA. Asserting that misinformation about the CAA would not go unchallenged, the CM vowed accountability for those spreading such falsehoods.
“Two crore Bangladeshis have entered Assam. Who said all those – Akhil Gogoi or Lurinjyoti Gogoi? They must apologize,” declared CM Himanta naming the Opposition leaders. He attributed the deaths of five individuals during protests to what he termed as “instigating statements” and “misinformation” regarding the CAA.
“People came out on the streets because of all these false statements on CAA,” insisted the Assam CM, holding them responsible for the consequences of their alleged misinformation.
