Prime Minister Narendra Modi will land in Guwahati to kickstart his Lok Sabha poll campaign in the Northeast on the evening of Tuesday. The PM will address rallies in Assam and Tripura, the first since the election dates were declared in March.
As per a BJP official, PM Modi’s plane is scheduled to touch down at Borjhar Airport in Guwahati, after which his convoy will proceed to the city by road. Additionally, PM Modi will lead a roadshow in Guwahati.
PM Modi is slated to address a sizable crowd in Assam’s Nalbari district at 11 am on Wednesday. He will lend his support to Phani Bhusan Choudhury, who is contesting the Barpeta Lok Sabha seat on an Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) ticket.
The AGP, a key ally of the BJP, is fielding candidates in two Assam constituencies, while the United People’s Party Liberal or UPPL, another coalition partner, has been allocated the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat. The BJP, meanwhile, is contesting in the remaining 11 parliamentary seats in the State.
Ahead of PM Modi’s visit, rigorous security measures have been put in place in Guwahati, with the Kamrup district authority declaring the entire city a ‘no drone fly zone’.
Following his engagements in Assam, the PM is scheduled to participate in another public event in Agartala on Wednesday.
