Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who campaigned in Kerala and addressed election meetings in Kasaragod, Vadkara and Kannur, has strongly criticised the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Congress, accusing them of conspiring to weaken Bharat. Singh’s remarks come in response to the CPIM’s election manifesto pledge to dismantle all nuclear weapons in the country, which he views as a threat to national security.
Rajnath Singh wrote on social media, “Congress and LDF
cannot be trusted. These people do Thallu Koodal (fighting) in
Kerala. But, in Delhi, the same Congress and Left do Modiram Mataral to enhance
friendship. Here in Kerala both of them are fighting against each other. Neither
LDF nor UDF can be relied upon due to their lack of credibility in both work
and political character.”

Singh questioned the intentions behind proposal to dismantle Bharat’s nuclear weapons and demanded clarity from the Congress on its stance regarding the matter. He asserted discussing the destruction of Bharat’s nuclear arsenal poses a serious risk to national security and stability.
“I want to ask Congress in particular what they have to say about this comment by CPIM. I want to ask them to clarify. CPIM says if they come to power, they will destroy all nuclear weapons. Bharat’s first nuclear tests were conducted in 1974 by Indira Gandhi. The need arose because China had continuously been doing nuclear tests. And even Pakistan had begun its nuclear trials,” said the defence minister while addressing a public rally in Kerala’s Kasargod.
