In a bid to encourage voter participation, Tripura Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath has declared a reward of ₹2 lakh for the booth within the Khowai Assembly constituency that achieves the highest voter turnout percentage during the second phase of polling on April 26. Khowai Assembly segment falls within the ST-reserved East Tripura constituency.
Addressing a gathering at a booth meeting in Khowai district, Nath highlighted the significance of robust voter engagement in the electoral process. The minister asserted he would personally grant the reward to the booth organisation that demonstrates the most significant increase in voter turnout percentage. Nath expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, predicting defeat for the opposition INDIA bloc alliance.
Highlighting the absence of polling agents from the Opposition during the initial phase of the Lok Sabha polls in West Tripura constituency, Nath reiterated his conviction that the Opposition will “face defeat”. He suggested their failure to mobilise adequate support could lead to the forfeiture of security deposits, similar to the outcome witnessed in the West Tripura seat.
