Responding to the relentless heatwave gripping Tripura, the State Government has taken proactive measures by instructing all schools to remain closed for four days starting Wednesday. The directive, issued by the State Education department, aims to ensure the well-being of students and staff amidst soaring temperatures.
The notice, issued by NC Sharma, additional secretary of Education (School) Department, states, “In response to the prevailing heatwave throughout the state and in pursuance of the advice of Tripura Government’s Revenue Department, all Government and Government-aided schools, schools under TTAADC, and privately managed schools will remain closed from April 24 to April 27.”
With temperatures soaring and humidity levels rising, the decision to suspend school activities will safeguard the health and safety of the community. Additionally, the Tripura Revenue department has advised district disaster management authorities to undertake extensive awareness campaigns, provide essential amenities like safe drinking water and shade, and ensure medical support for vulnerable communities.
District administrations have been urged to activate Emergency Operation Centres and mobilise Quick Response Teams to address any emergencies effectively. Furthermore, the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of temperatures ranging from 28 to 38 degrees Celsius highlights the severity of the heatwave, necessitating precautionary measures to mitigate its impact.
