Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma took a swipe at the Congress party’s manifesto, suggesting it seemed crafted to secure victories in Pakistan rather than in Bharat. He also challenged the Grand Old Party to hold a debate on the manifesto, which “is nothing but appeasement”.
CM Himanta remarked said, “Congress party’s manifesto is prepared in a way that they win elections in Pakistan. The manifesto is more for the people of Pakistan and less for the people of Bharat. Congress has done a manifesto which will snatch resources from the common people and Congress will destroy the economy of the country. We have interpreted the Congress manifesto in the right way. I will challenge them to come for a public debate to show that this manifesto is nothing but appeasement.”
The CM defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s poll speech in Rajasthan where he said that “if the Congress came to power, it would redistribute the wealth of people to Muslims.”
Dr Himanta stated, “The PM has correctly said that everybody has a right to the resources of the country. It is for the Congress party to tell why they said the first right to the resources of the country is with a particular community.”
On Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Assam CM remarked, “Rahul Gandhi is the best candidate for Pappu.”
