Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma electrified the crowd at Lahorighat with his ambitious agenda for infrastructure and education during a campaign rally. With promises of progress and connectivity, the CM outlined his vision to transform the socio-economic landscape of the region. With over 70 per cent Muslim voters, Laharighat Assembly segment in Nagaon Lok Sabha has been won by Congress since 1967.
Among the key announcements, the CM pledged to construct a bridge connecting Morigaon and Darrang districts, aiming to enhance connectivity and streamline transportation between the two regions. Additionally, plans for the Dhing-Bhuragaon road project were unveiled, slated to commence within the next six months, promising improved connectivity and accessibility for communities along the route.
Recognising the pivotal role of education in fostering socio-economic advancement, CM Himanta announced free admission for successful candidates of the High School Leaving Certificate examination, aiming to alleviate financial barriers and facilitate access to higher education.
In his address, the CM also took aim at the Opposition, particularly Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi, accusing him of neglecting the development needs of Lahorighat and surrounding areas. Reiterating Bordoloi’s description as a ‘Suitcase MP’ who only appears during elections, the CM highlighted the BJP’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the people and driving development in Assam.
The campaign rally served as a platform for CM Himanta to reaffirm the BJP’s dedication to progress and development in Assam, aligning with the party’s agenda of promoting connectivity, infrastructure development, and educational empowerment. With elections looming, his announcements set the tone for the BJP’s electoral narrative, placing development at the forefront of its agenda for the State’s future.
