Union Minister Amit Shah is gearing up for a grand road show in Guwahati city of Assam, scheduled for April 29, as part of the lead-up to the third phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
This anticipated event is set to draw in a substantial crowd of supporters and is perceived as a pivotal move in the election campaign aimed at rallying voters.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma elaborated on the event’s arrangements, stating, “Amit Shah is set to hold a roadshow in Guwahati on May 29. The roadshow will be held between the Cycle factory-Lal Ganesh area of the city.”
CM Himanta informed about the meticulous planning undertaken to ensure the peaceful and safe road show, with measures in place to mitigate traffic congestion.
Expressing concern over the historically low voter turnout in the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat, the CM remarked, “In Guwahati, there is an issue of low voter turnout and we have to fight against this. Usually, what happens whoever comes to vote, votes for BJP but the voter percentage is less compared to other LS seats. If 20 lakh people in Guwahati votes, the margin for BJP is 5 lakh.”
On the other hand, speaking on the Opposition party’s preparedness, Congress party chief Malikarjun Kharge will hold a press conference in the State capital Guwahati today. Following this, Congress nominee Mira Borthakur Goswami, pitted against BJP’s Bijuli Kalita Medhi, will be the focus of attention. Kharge will then proceed to hold a public meeting in Assam’s Barpeta.
