In a significant political event, Abdul Kader, the Salbari district secretary of the Bodoland People’s Front or BPF, along with 23 other prominent leaders, made a pivotal decision to join BJP ally United People’s Party Liberal or UPPL on April 30, ahead of the third phase of Lok Sabha elections.
The formal announcement of the defection was made on April 30, with Abdul Kader and his associates officially crossing over to the UPPL, under the watchful eye of Chandan Brahma, lending weight to the occasion.
Abdul Kader, while expressing admiration for Hagrama Mohilary’s leadership, cited concerns over certain factions within the BPF that he felt were exclusionary, leading to his decision to seek a new political affiliation.
Accompanied by 23 fellow BPF members, Abdul Kader hinted at the possibility of a larger exodus from the BPF, with approximately 1,000 more party workers potentially set to join the UPPL in the near future.
In a bold display of confidence, Abdul Kader expressed unwavering belief in the victory of alliance candidate Jayanta Basumatary in the upcoming elections for the Kokrajhar constituency, signalling a newfound optimism in the electoral prospects of their newly aligned political front.
