Bharat is all set to showcase its prowess in badminton as it gears up to host the esteemed World Junior Badminton Championships in 2025, announced the Badminton World Federation (BWF). The event will take place at the National Centre of Excellence located in Guwahati, Assam, representing Bharat’s return to hosting this prestigious tournament after nearly two decades.
The decision to host both the team and individual events at the Badminton Association of India’s or BAI National Centre of Excellence shows India’s growing prominence in the global badminton arena. BWF President Poul-Erik Høyer appreciated India’s burgeoning talent pool, expressing confidence in the country’s capability to organise a world-class championship.
Guwahati’s selection as the host city adds another feather to India’s cap, with the last time the country hosted the event being in Pune back in 2008. The BWF President commended BAI’s cutting-edge facility in Guwahati, identifying it as the perfect stage for emerging badminton stars to shine.
While the exact dates for the 2025 championship are yet to be finalised, anticipation is already mounting among badminton enthusiasts nationwide and across the globe.
In another significant development, the BWF disclosed that Denmark will host the BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals in 2026, with the event scheduled to take place in Horsens. This decision follows Denmark’s successful hosting of the world men’s and women’s team championships in Aarhus in 2021. Horsens, renowned for its vibrant cultural scene and entertainment offerings, is poised to provide an exceptional backdrop for this prestigious tournament.
The confirmation of Denmark’s hosting rights for the BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2026 was announced at the BWF Council meeting held on April 28, underscoring the ongoing efforts to elevate and expand the global reach of badminton.
