Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has strongly rebutted the claims made by the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party regarding a “washing machine,” questioning the mechanism they used to cleanse Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. In a pointed response, he remarked, “The Congress party had criticised Arvind Kejriwal by accusing him of corruption some months ago, claiming he made money through alcohol, but now they’re saying he’s a good person. Now tell me, what kind of high-voltage washing machine do they have?”
Addressing Priyanka Gandhi’s accusations of mafia involvement in Assam, CM Himanta retorted, “People from the royal family of Congress should not speak about the mafia raj. Perhaps they have forgotten what was happening in Assam under their rule – mafia, guns, and smuggling.” He asserted that there is no mafia presence in the State, highlighting the absence of bomb blasts, gunfire, or insurgent activities like ULFA.
Furthermore, the Assam CM criticised Priyanka Gandhi’s omission of certain crucial issues such as the murder of Rhinos, lungi, and dhoti, indicating that the rhetoric of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi does not resonate with the people of Assam.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah dismissed the Opposition’s “washing machine” analogy against the BJP, asserting, “This means that your clothes are dirty and no one is clean, the public knows everything. Not a single BJP Government has made any attempt to save anyone from the law.”
Responding to queries about former Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan, accused of corruption in the alleged Adarsh Housing scam, Shah clarified that it was a decision of the local party unit, insisting that no cases have been dropped against anyone joining the BJP.
