Among the key announcements was the decision to increase the refining capacity of the Bongaigaon Refinery to 5 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum or MMTPA, a move set to significantly boost the State’s economic prospects.
In addition to this crucial development, CM Himanta declared transformative initiatives for Bongaigaon, including the targeted completion of the Bongaigaon Medical College by 2025 and the elevation of Bongaigaon College to university status. Addressing a rally in support of NDA-backed AGP candidate Phanibhusan Chowdhury, CM Himanta expressed unwavering confidence in Chowdhury’s triumph in the Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency, predicting a resounding victory margin.
CM Himanta projected a strong showing for the BJP alliance, anticipating victory in 12 to 13 seats in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. He downplayed the competitive landscape, noting the absence of significant challenges in the electoral arena.
