Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Kangana Ranaut, contesting from Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, has affirmed her commitment to the film industry despite her newly-entered political journey. She emphasized, “I cannot leave the industry right now as many of my films are pending.”
Ranaut’s decision to enter the political fray in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency, historically significant in the State’s politics, adds intrigue to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Mandi, traditionally a Congress stronghold, presents a formidable challenge for Ranaut as she navigates the political scenario.
The forthcoming polls in Himachal Pradesh, slated for June 1, will not only witness the electoral battle for four Lok Sabha seats but also entail contests for six Assembly seats left vacant after the disqualification of Congress MLAs.
With the BJP aiming to maintain its dominance in the region, victory is the party’s primary objective, having secured all four LS seats in 2019. The anticipation surrounding the election results will reach its peak during the counting process scheduled for June 4.
The Mandi constituency holds symbolic significance, long considered a bastion of the late former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s family. Currently represented by Pratibha Devi Singh, wife of the late leader, the seat witnessed a bye-election in 2021 following the demise of BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma.
