Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party or BSP supremo Mayawati made a significant announcement, removing her nephew Akash Anand from the positions of national coordinator and her perceived political successor on Tuesday.
Mayawati clarified that this decision was made in the “larger interest” of the party, stating that Anand would be relieved of his responsibilities until he achieves “full maturity”. In a social media post, she emphasised the BSP’s role as both a political entity and a movement dedicated to the ideals of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and social change.
“While promoting various individuals within the party, I had appointed Akash Anand as the National Coordinator and my successor. However, considering the broader interests of the party and the movement, I have decided to remove him from these crucial roles until he reaches a level of maturity,” explained Mayawati.
She further clarified that Anand’s father, Anand Kumar, would continue to discharge his duties within the party and the movement. Mayawati reaffirmed the BSP’s commitment to advancing the legacy of Bhimrao Ambedkar, highlighting the leadership’s readiness to make sacrifices for the party’s progress.
