In the third phase of voting in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the process showcased robust voter engagement across 11 States and Union Territories, with a commendable 61.45 per cent turnout recorded by 8 pm across 93 Polling Constituencies (PCs). Despite challenging weather conditions in some regions, voters displayed unwavering dedication, queuing up enthusiastically at polling stations to exercise their democratic right.
A crucial highlight of Phase 3 was the presence of 75 international delegates from 23 countries, who embarked on a comprehensive tour of polling stations across six States. Their firsthand observations encompassed numerous aspects of the electoral process, from the dispatch of polling materials to the procedural intricacies involved. The delegates expressed admiration for the scale and transparency of operations, as well as the vibrant festive spirit evident among voters.
This phase also witnessed proactive communication initiatives by the Election Commission of India or ECI to enhance voter engagement. Leveraging SMS alerts, WhatsApp messages, and voice calls featuring national and State icons, in collaboration with leading Telecom Service Providers, the ECI aimed to enhance voter participation and promote civic awareness.
With the conclusion of Phase 3, electoral activities have wrapped up in 20 States/UTs and 283 PCs for General Elections 2024. A diverse array of 1,331 candidates contested in this phase, reflecting the multifaceted democratic aspirations resonating across the nation.
